2023 Hi Daniel Just wanted to say a big thanks and a very well done for getting my bike to Auckland and for a superior professional service from you and the NZMA team. The experience at the freight depots at either end was easy and pleasant, with friendly helpful staff at both the Gravesend UK and Auckland NZ freight terminals - The drop-off and pick-up procedures were simple and easy and the manager at the Gravesend depot even gave me a lift to the train!
Upon receipt of the bike at the Auckland depot, I was pleasantly surprised to find everything exactly as you described, with no extra fees or tricks or delays, as I have experienced with international freight in the past!
The bike was clearly freighted carefully and it arrived in perfect condition - And it was also available of the day you advised it would be, so the pick-up went flawlessly. Your communication and advice and support with queries etc has also been first class so thanks very much for a great job done in that regard. The price was also pretty reasonable considering the quality of the service that you actually offer too.
I have freighted bikes quite a few times over the years and this was the best experience I have had by some margin. It has been a pleasure - And I will certainly use you guys if/when I freight a bike back to Europe, once the war blows over.
2022/2023 I entrusted my bike to Daniel for a trip to NZ from the UK in Jan/Feb 2023. The whole process has been a very easy experience because of Daniel's help - before, during and on arrival in NZ. He has taken care of the paperwork, the importation, collecting us to pick up the bike, getting the VTNZ stuff done and leaving me with his mobile number with a promise to help in any way we needed whilst we were there. We had photos and tracking details for the shipping. I used his suggested itinerary as a framework to design my own 6-7 week itinerary which helped enormously. I explored both islands on my BMW R1250RT with my wife as pillion, riding about 6000+ miles. We made tremendous memories and even some good friends along the way.
One of the unexpected benefits of having my own bike was that the UK number plate generated lots of interest and sparked conversation with loads of bikers (even some who were in NZ using cars or campervans that had no idea bikes could be shipped there and back for such a reasonable price).
Thanks to Daniel's company I was able to enjoy my bucket list trip with all the benefits of riding my own motorcycle and at the same time saved money compared to hiring for such a long time. My bike is now back in the UK and I can't recommend Daniel enough!
If you're thinking of riding in New Zealand (and you definitely should) then take at least 6 weeks to do it (I wish we had gone for longer) and do yourself a favour - ship your own bike with Daniel. It does take a while to get out there and back of course, but that's easily solved by getting a second bike to ride whilst it's gone!
2022/2023 Hi Daniel From start to finish the service you provided was faultless. Communication was excellent and you made the whole shipping and customs process as easy as it could possibly be – I’ve had more hassle trying to import a pair of boots from Germany then I did getting a bike in and out of New Zealand! I was particularly grateful for the help you provided in arranging a VTNZ appointment over the busy Christmas period – I hope I didn’t disrupt your holiday.
I very much hope to use New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures again and would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone else contemplating a visit to your wonderful country.
2022/2023 NZMA was absolutely brilliant throughout, and in less-than-ideal circumstances too before Christmas in NZ!! We really appreciated your efforts to ensure we had our bike ready to go when we wanted it.
Your ’Self-Guided Tour’ routes were also extremely helpful. We were Lucky enough to have more time so used the 31 Day Tour as a loose template and added in suggestions from friends and relatives, plus occasional ad hoc add-ons picked up from locals along the way!
We’d thoroughly recommend New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures to anyone looking to travel this idyllic country on their own bike. From first contact at the ABR Festival in 2022 the seed was sown and from there the idea rapidly gained momentum – so Glad you were able to accommodate us on the October 2022 sailing! Throughout you made us feel welcome to contact you with questions and we felt confident in the process.
2019/2020 From my first enquiry and contact with Daniel I was confident that our bikes would be in the safe hands of an experienced motorcycle shipper. This is evident from the specially designed cradles into which the motorcycles are secured to ensure their safety within the shipping container. We were met at the airport by Daniel, who then took us to our accommodation,
The following day we were picked up and taken to the depot to collect our bikes. Upon starting our bikes once our batteries were re-connected we encountered a small problem when we discovered fuel leaks on fuel hose clamps on both bikes. Daniel, with his network of NZ motorcycling contacts, was able to arrange for our bikes to be taken to a local workshop where we remedied the problems. I’m not sure if any other motorcycle shippers would have gone out of their way, in similar circumstances, to ensure that we were ready to continue with our adventures in New Zealand.
A tremendous service that I am sure we will use again in the future, and I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone thinking of shipping their motorcycles between the UK and NZ.
2019/2020 We picked our motorcycles up from the depot in Gravesend today. We only planned to be away for 4 months but Coronavirus extended our stay by 8 weeks!
Daniel from NZ Motorcycle Adventures was able to change our shipment dates at no extra cost to enable us to keep the bikes until we were able to fly home. Throughout our 6 month trip Daniel would drop us an email to check we were ok! The whole service was first class from start to finish. Communication was excellent and paperwork minimised by hi-lighting where we had to fill something in and where to sign. No stress for us at all!
Daniel met us at Auckland airport, took us to our hotel and picked us up again the next day to take us to our bikes. We cannot rate this company highly enough and would not hesitate to use them again!
2019/2020 If you are thinking of touring in NZ then we probably don’t need to tell you about the spectacular scenery and quiet roads or that it’s much better seen from a bike than through a car windscreen, so should you take your own bike? From our experience, the answer is definitely yes.
It is easier than you may think and from making our initial enquiries last year to the bike arriving safely back home last week, Daniel made everything very straightforward and stress free. One advantage of shipping your own bike is that your luggage, including helmets, and riding gear can be sent with it, so we were able to travel on the plane with carry on luggage only.
On arrival, Daniel met us at the airport, and the next day took us to collect the bike and then onto the testing station to register it for NZ use, an easy procedure taking less than an hour. An unforgettable trip to a fascinating country with friendly people leaving us with lots of memories. Not only that, the bike itself now has a history, having been half way round the world! The only thing is, how do you beat that? Well, you can always go again, there’s loads to see… NZMA made the whole trip hardly more difficult to touring on the continent and we couldn’t recommend them more highly.
As current world events have shown, you never know what’s round the corner, so don’t wait, start planning the trip now!
2018/2019 We started planning our New Zealand group trip in January 2017 and from the very outset we were convinced that using NZMA was the best option for the shipping of our bikes. We were proved right when we heard tales of damaged bikes from people using another option which had been mooted by the organiser of the Triumph event.
Daniel helped us with the paperwork, by highlighting the sections we needed to fill in and told us what to enter in which boxes for the customs etc. Totally painless. Then we delivered our bike and riding gear to the depot in Gravesend. We were impressed with the security and the good organisation.
Daniel kept us informed at all times as to where our bike was. He sent us a photograph of the bike all loaded up. We even had the link to see where the ship was at any given moment and it was quite exciting to see the ship going through the Panama Canal and onwards. We flew to Auckland with only a small suitcase which made things easy. Daniel and Dave picked us up from the airport and took us to our nearby hotel.
We were picked up the following morning, taken to the secure depot where the bikes were stored, kitted up and guided to the Fuel Station and then the Vehicle Inspection Depot. All went well as Daniel had all the correct paperwork.
Then he guided us back to the hotel so we could finish our loading and packing of the bike. He was kind enough to take with him, for storage, our travel suitcase with our travel clothes and then he guided us out of Auckland and on our way to Rotorua for the next night’s stop.
We met with Dave at various points on our trip around the two islands and much fun was had! Our last stop was in Christchurch and, as Dave was staying in the same hotel, the loading up of the bikes was painless. Again we had regular information as to the whereabouts and shipping back of the bikes.
All in all a superb and faultless service and one we have since recommended to others.
2018/2019 I would like to thank Daniel and his team for a fantastic professional service in transporting my bike to the other side of the world. It was a totally stress free procedure with communication updates at every stage of the process.
Having been in the bike trade for over 35 years I would have no hesitation in recommending this company to anybody who is thinking of sending their bike out to NZ, and I can only hope that I may have the opportunity to use their service again in the future.
2018/2019 New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures were recommended to us for shipping our bike from the UK. We'd looked into motorcycle rental and we found that taking our own bike was the most cost effective and fun!
Daniel helped us through every step of the way. There isn't much paperwork. The correct forms were emailed to us with clear instructions how to fill them in and Daniel dealt with them. All we had to do was get our bike to the depot and get ourselves to New Zealand. Everything went very smoothly. We were picked up from the airport and taken to our hotel in the early hours of the morning, then later collected again and taken for our bike.
We were taken to the local testing station to get our bike tested and registered. Job done! Our New Zealand adventure had begun. 5,600 miles and 2 months later our bike was shipped back home. No scratches, no hassle, no problems. Taking our own bike added to the adventure. The UK registration plate was an occasional talking point. Everyone we met was friendly. We had lots of help en route planning and places to visit on our travels.
Put simply a great way to explore New Zealand. We would recommend New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures if you're thinking about a New Zealand motorcycle tour- no hesitation. I think we'll be going back! Thanks again Daniel, you've facilitated the ride of a lifetime.
2018/2019 This trip was planned over a 3 year period so we could save up to travel half way around the globe. One of the main issues was how to get our Triumphs safely to New Zealand. Daniel of NZMA came along to the WATOC AGM to give us a presentation and a fixed price which he held for that time, from that I was set. What I thought was going to be the hardest part became the easiest.
Everything is taken care of, just present your bike (fully cleaned) at the Gravesend location on the date supplied. Running up to that Daniel kept me fully informed with regard to customs forms etc. providing them for me to fill in and send back. I was extremely impressed with their method of securing the bikes and luggage as this was another reason for choosing NZMA. Given the level of support and quality of the package, the price was very reasonable.
The next thing was to collect our bike from the depot in Christchurch. Dave one of the NZMA team picked me up from our home stay, took me to the bike and came with me for the Warrant of Fitness and the registration. The bike was just how I had left it in the UK. Test passed and rego paid we were off on our adventure.
We had the bike for just over a month and covered 5000 kms on both Islands. Sadly we had to take the bike back on 6th March, disconnect the battery and secure the luggage for the return trip. Again all paper work was supplied to me for shipping the bike back out of NZ and the re-import papers for the UK. It all ran like clockwork and I got an email telling me when the bike was available for collection. I was also able to track the progress of the container vessel both ways.
I would thoroughly recommend Daniel and his company NZMA to transport my bike in future years should we be lucky enough to go back to New Zealand, a wonderful country with the best people. To top it off, we only had 4 days of rain in 6 weeks!
2018/2019 My wife Carrie and I had the opportunity to take a few weeks away from everything and realise our/my dream of riding around NZ. After a little research, it turned out that for a month or more it is more cost effective to ship your own bike out there rather than hire one. After reading the reviews on the website we gave it a go and from the very first question until the bike landed back at our doorstep a few months later, we had no doubts that this was the best way to go. It couldn't have been a more personal and hassle-free service and I would recommend NZ Motorcycle Adventures to anyone looking to embark on a similar trip. NZ turned out to be everything we hoped it would be after a 5000 mile journey around the islands. The scenery is breathtaking of course but on a bike - wow! We loosely followed the 31 day route on the website, but another bonus of being on your own bike is that the UK number plates attract conversations from locals and expats alike, and they all have a view on which are the best places and the best routes to get there. We took their advice and the pictures don't do it justice. We/I am already planning a return trip, with the bike, and I'll have no hesitation on calling on Daniel again. If you have the chance, do it!
2017/2018 “We shipped our bike from London to Auckland and back with New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures, for a trip of a lifetime 2 month tour of both the North and South Island. Daniel made the whole experience a ‘walk in the park’ and nothing was too much trouble. He happily put up with my insane questions, and provided help and advice for our whole holiday. Exceptional customer service from a truly nice gent in a niche market. If you want to spend any serious time on a motorcycle in New Zealand, ship your own bike through this company – it’s by far the easiest and most economical option. The bike is expertly secured in a bespoke frame system, with your riding gear, and then loaded into a container for shipment. Our bike arrived home safe and sound with no damage whatsoever. A first class, hassle free, experience.”
2017/2018 Just a quick note to say how impressed I was with New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures’ handling of all aspects of shipping our BMW R1100GS to and from New Zealand recently. Daniel was patient and thorough throughout, answering all my questions quickly and making sure everything went very smoothly from start to finish. It was great to be able to use our own bike and luggage on this trip, and given the very reasonable cost we saved quite a lot of money compared to renting a similar bike for the time we were there. We had a fantastic time in New Zealand, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Daniel and New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures to anyone.
2017/2018 "New Zealand is a really great place to ride a motorcycle, and what better way to do it than riding your own bike that you know well and want to ride. After researching all the possibilities, hire, buy new or secondhand in New Zealand, I bumped into the New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures by chance when looking for riding itineraries. Daniel runs a slick operation, helps you handle all the paperwork and simplifies the whole process, met us at the airport and helped us all the way. We spent a month in New Zealand, we wanted to do it properly, see as much as possible and tour North and South Island, but most importantly enjoy the ride. It was very comforting to hear Daniel say if anything went wrong during the trip not to hesitate to contact him. I cannot speak more highly of the service Daniel provides, and we wouldn't have done the trip any other way."
2017/2018 In October I shipped my Triumph Tiger with NZ motorcycle adventures to Auckland. Best value for money I ever spent! The bike was shipped on a solid steel cradle and arrived in NZ without a scratch, just the way I left it. Daniel was most accommodating in his communication. Shipping the bike could not have been easier, NZ MCA even pick you up from the airport and ensure that the bike is properly road legally registered for NZ which is all included in the price. I rode around NZ for two months and had the time of my life, it's just a paradise to ride! I highly recommend shipping your bike to NZ with NZ MCA. Incredible service, friendly guys and riding your own bike around NZ is just priceless!!!
2016/2017 We used New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures to ship 2 bikes out to New Zealand in 2016 and return in 2017. Daniel's expertise made the experience simple and painless. Communication was excellent and we were guided through the form filling. There was no drama even when I suffered a senior moment and filled a form in incorrectly. We chose to ship the bikes in and out of Auckland. Daniel was on hand to collect us from the airport, pick up the bikes and then take us to get them both a certificate of fitness to be able to ride legally on NZ roads. We also chose the option of having the bikes returned to our house on the return leg back to the UK after our trip. I have no hesitation in recommending New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures for their services.
2015/2016 Absolutely superb service from New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures. Very professional and at the same time, friendly and helpful. Daniel kept us well informed on progress and timings. Cradle system used for shipping is great - makes packing, shipping and unpacking of bike and luggage simple, safe and straight forward. Daniel picked us up at Auckland Airport and took us to the warehouse to collect our bike then on to a test station for Warrant of Fitness test and registration. Probably less than 90 minutes and we were on our way. The pricing system is clear, simple and very reasonable. I would recommend New Zealand Motorcycle Adventures to anyone thinking of touring New Zealand.
July 2013 - February 2014: London to New Zealand overland. My girlfriend and I completed an overland motorcycle journey from our flat in north London to Milford Sound, New Zealand (in the South Island). Daniel handled the very last leg of the journey for us, shipping the bike out of Auckland back to London. It was the easiest freight leg of our entire journey. All we had to do was stamp our carnet at customs and hand over the bike and luggage to the depot near Auckland airport. That's it! Like checking your luggage, or posting a parcel, it could not have possibly been any simpler. About 2 months later Daniel arrived at my doorstep in London in his van and delivered the bike and all my luggage in immaculate condition. We could not have wished for a better service.
I can not speak highly enough of the service that I received. They made everything so easy. At times I was sure I had missed something but no they had taken care of everything. It was so nice to be able to arrive in London and know the bike was waiting for me. Then after our trip drop it off knowing it was in good hands. Best of all, they are easy to do business with. They kept me up to date at all times with where the bike was and they looked after it as if it was their own. They are experienced and they had good advice. I would have no hesitation in using them again (actually I can't wait to use them again as it means we are off on another adventure).
Great service and very well organised. We were always updated with information on our bike. No problems whatsoever. Would use them again and highly recommend to anyone shipping their bike to Europe.
I was very lucky to hear about this business when I was planning a 2 month trip to meet my daughter in her new home half way around the world in late 2012. The last shipment for the winter/summer was leaving in about 9 days, so after a very quick decision Daniel was very helpful with shipping my bike to New Zealand and back to the UK. The bike left the UK on the 15th October and arrived Auckland about the 4th December. Daniel then arranged to have the bike delivered to my daughters house to await my arrival. Port storage can be very costly. It was wonderful to have my bike there with the panniers and all our bike gear and helmets in perfect condition. Hint don’t leave damp leather gloves in sealed panniers through the tropics!
Just had to connect the battery then start-up and ride to the nearest testing center and get a NZ Warrant of Fitness (WOF) and NZ tourist registration (this is included in the cost of shipping my bike return to NZ). Insurance is optional but a good comprehensive policy including breakdown was cheap and gave a great peace of mind.
Anyway, the main act was the riding on New Zealand’s fantastic roads away from the main cities with so little traffic and the most stunning scenery with mostly excellent weather in the summer months. It was really great to do it on my own machine. The cost of renting a decent bike in the prime months in New Zealand is very high as we found out on a previous visit so it was great to ride on my own bike in what I think is the best country in the world. It all has to end sometime and all I had to do was clean the bike very well again, disconnect the battery and leave it for a courier to collect the bike and deliver it back to the Auckland depot.
Fast forward 2 months and the bike is delivered back in perfect condition but needing 2 tyres very urgently. They were quite expensive in NZ compared to here. I cannot recommend more that you ride NZ and if you have the time to see what it has to offer you will be in awe of the beauty and contrasts of the countryside. Daniel looked after all the shipping arrangements with so much expertise and attention to detail that made probably the best holiday ever.
